  Missionaries to vacate all missionary homes

  latest news from a source (missionary in foreign land):.

  no more missionary homes anywhere in the world.. all missionaries presently in missionary homes must vacate.

  must get housing on your own / from the locals.. circuit and district overseers have moved into many of these former missionary homes.. reasons: liability, cost savings, real estate to be sold or used for other purposes.. needless to say, many of these longtime servants are very unsettled.

  It's obvious the wt is cutting corners left, right and centre to save money. Turn the missionaries out: sell the houses. Lump retired co and do onto local cong rather than feed them yourself: save money, use the sheeples. I don't see how the local congs will b able to support these missionaries et al because traditionally missionaries serve in poorer places.

  Gosh, I actually feel sorry for them. They were told all their lives that Jehovah would miraculously provide for them, then the wt sells them down the river. They were good little jws who set 'spiritual' goals rather than "pursue the things of the world" like an education, career or even a place to live. The bad little jws who made money and invested it for their retirement are alright for disobeying the wt, but the ones who trusted in these twats are being skinned, then told to hand over a second skin too!

  They're coming across less churchy, probably because of all the flack Sparlock copped. My reading of this video: I didn't watch all of it, but I saw enough to see that true friends are generally white Anglo culture people, and ALWAYS the same gender as you. A true friend is also what the wt isn't: giving, forgiving, and respecting of diversity. They are people you can do fun things with, but they don't smoke or have tattoos.

  Overall, I think it's a nice, very general cartoon that looks a bit like an Australian bank ad. It could be used outside of a jw context in a Christian middle school pastoral care context.

  Did you ever volunteer at or visit Bethel? What were your impressions when you were in the WBTS vs. now (looking back)?

  did you ever volunteer/visit bethel back when you were in the borg?

  at the time, it opended my eyes as i saw a lot of red flags.

  for instance, volunteers were kept so busy without reasonable accomodations that everyone became in a robotic-zombie state of compliance with an unreasonably strict fast pased schedule.

  I never had much to do with bethel except for a couple of official tours in bethels at international dc cities, in which case they pump hundreds of people through each hour and have all the printing and working offline, and provide lunch etc. I also had lunch at Myanmar bethel once, but it's a small place so not much was going on and most of the workers commuted from share houses nearby.

  But this is what my impression was overall: a highly regimented life where you had to keep your room clean all the time. The rooms at Myanmar bethel were Spartan with three beds. The ones in Sydney were a bit plusher. The people who worked there and gave us tours etc seemed to have the 'if you were truly righteous you'd be here or serving where the need is great. Oh it's such a blessing to be here.'

  And I noticed the kingdom hall adjoining the Sydney bethel had microphones attached to every seat, so you didn't have two guys running the mikes all meeting. That struck me at the time and continued cropping up in my mind ever after that if jws are supposed to be equal, then y did the bethelites have their own mikes? Why were their chairs not those thinly upholstered, ergonomically bereft back crunchers the rest of us had? For some reason their chairs and mikes really struck me.

  from relatives and contacts in 2 states, there have been no bibles available for a couple months.

  one person mentioned to me as well about supposed quotes in the magazines from other bibles.

  rumors are that they will announce a new bible, or possibly tell everyone to buy a bible from another place that they approve of.

  this is why "spiritual routine" is not a good thing regarding one's relationship with god.full definition of routine (m-w.com).

  Life needs routine ie waking up and having breakfast each day, going to work, doing the washing, feeding the cat, tv scheduling- yep, life would descend I to chaos without routine. But routines are just the pizza dough of life, the boring bit you have to have so you can have all the good stuff. Stuff that's out of the routine, stuff that you can enjoy once the routine needs like tying your shoe laces is done. This spiritual routine we always heard about, never got to the good stuff; it was the basic dough , a drudgery that never left room for the fun of life. We were stupified by a dull as dishwater set of repetitive watchtower tasks that would have left god shaking his head and saying, "WTF! Why did I give you all this stuff so you can ignore it to sit in a dull hall? Why don't you use that wonderful brain I gave you?!" Wasting lives on pointless unnecessary routine would only please the God of Boredom.

  Overheard at the coffee shop...

  here's a bit of a story for you... .

  on the weekends, i go to a local restaurant/coffee shop and spend some time there reading, studying, taking notes, etc.

  i also get a light breakfast with my 6 to 10 cups of coffee.

  Yeah like as if eating a cookie would offend god. I can't believe what a douche I used to be at Xmas time. I always helped mum with the Xmas meal cooking because if I didn't I'd have to clean up afterwards and I'd rather cook than clean, so had no problem with cooking and eating with the family. But I wouldn't pull a Xmas cracker or accept my gifts that day. I always gave my family presents in the leadup to Xmas and accepted my gifts on boxing day...splittr hairs like an idiot.

  one of the biggest things that bothered me as a jehovahs witness was the whole 'we are the world' bullcrap that they used to teach, and that culture, color, and race didnt matter.

  as far as i'm concerned thats a bunch of bs.

  people have a right to preserve who they, where they came from, and they have a right to be represented.

  Whatever you do, don't rush it. You have time on your side now you know Armageddon isn't just 'around the corner'. And avoid getting dfd ie don't spread your doubts round to other jws and don't let the elders meet with you. The best thing is keep setting a good example to your mum. She sounds like a lady who goes with the warm fuzzy feelings, so run with that. Play up the things that make her happy cuz jws can get caught in a loop of negative emotions eg 'oh woe to me, this system is so bad. Satan's making me sick. The world opposes me. My son is going to be destroyed.' Keep her in the moment where things are beautiful.
